Prerequisites: CHIN 30053, 30063, 30073, or 30133 with a grade of C- or better. In this course, students will use Chinese to explore various contemporary scenes of Chinese society. The scenes represent the domains of Chinese popular culture, social change, cultural tradition, and politics. The topics include online dating, brand-name fever, television dramas, modern views of marriage, population change, Chinese food culture, Confucianism in modern China, and democracy.
